Reimagining Longmead
An alternative vision for the Edwardian Longmead Centre building to save a heritage asset from demolition and provide a sustainable plan for the development of the site.
Collaborating with a team of local architects and residents campaigning to save the Longmead building in Redhill from demolition, we developed a number of ideas to create a new mixed-use community centre with affordable housing making use of the beautiful existing building designed by Thomas Hooper. The plans present an alternative, creative, and more sustainable option to the planned demolition of the building.
The building and surrounding site are reimagined as a community space with a covered market, a community cafe, artist and community studios, shared workspace for small businesses, local charities and social enterprises, much needed affordable homes and outdoor seating and event spaces.
